Beyond the Scents: Aromatherapy’s True Healing Potential

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘Aromatherapy’? For many folks, it conjures an image of plastic Glade Plug-In air fresheners; for others, a bottle of flowery dish soap. For a fortunate few, a pleasing bath with natural soothing scents comes to mind; for even fewer, a cold-air diffuser releasing a fine mist of pure Rose petal oil throughout their home. The rarest concept of Aromatherapy in these United States is one of highly potent medicines, effective against a broad range of bacteria and viruses, with further uses including relief of arthritis pain, stomach discomfort, sleeplessness, and a host of other conditions. If this is a new idea, read-on and enter the wonderful world of medicinal aromatherapy and therapeutic use of essential oils. The word ‘aromatherapie’ was first used in 1937 by the French cosmetic scientist Rene Maurice Gattefosse after accidentally discovering Lavender oil’s healing effects on burns he sustained in his lab. Cash In and Chill Out During Spa Week 2008

Once considered an indulgence, spa treatments are quickly becoming a necessity to wellness. As more and more Americans take preventative health care seriously and consider how to achieve overall well being, spa treatments are beginning to find their way into the overall maintenance and care of one’s self.
Several years ago, Cheryl Reid, owner of a New York City public relations firm, launched Spa Week, the successful national event which offers $50 discounted spa treatment to the consumer. What started out as an exciting spa event turned into a mission to shape the future of the spa industry for both the spas and the consumer.
Reid and her staff believe it’s all about educating consumers and spa owners regarding the benefits of a spa lifestyle. The Spa Week mantra is twofold: introduce a new generation of Americans to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and to open up the spa industry to the masses. In light of the country’s health epidemic, Spa Week is taking a leadership position in the campaign to change the unhealthy course the country is navigating.
Their hope is that Spa Week will educate new and existing clients that treatments, such as massage and facials, combined with […]

The Benefits of a Body Wrap

If you’re looking for an all-natural way to enhance and moisturize your skin, decrease excess water from your body, or just provide a rejuvenating treatment for yourself, a body wrap can do wonders for your appearance.
Body wraps are designed to improve the texture and appearance of skin by removing excess fluid and toxins from the body. This method also firms loose skin and treats the unsightly appearance of cellulite. In addition, body wraps offer a variety of benefits that include detoxification, contouring, skin softening, and giving a boost to the lymphatic system and metabolism. People who have enjoyed a body wrap treatment may have also noticed another benefit: losing a few inches around the waistline.
How are body wraps performed?
For those who are new to body wraps, it’s a straightforward, as well as an indulgent treatment. Typically, the person receiving the body wrap has her torso, legs, arms, and neck wrapped with special cloths which have been soaked in a special mixture of ingredients. Oils, sea salts, and other mineral essential, natural ingredients are used during the wrap to provide the body with an overall exfoliating scrub. These ingredients help to improve the texture and appearance of the skin, while also […]
